I had an Aquasana before and switched to Crystal Quest. I'd say the water quality feels pretty similar, maybe a little better on the CQ side for removing chlorine. Installation was a bit easier with CQ too, for what it's worth.

How often do you guys actually change your filters for a whole house system? The website says one thing but is that real-world accurate?

For my whole house system, I generally stick to what they recommend, which is usually every 10-12 months. My water quality isn't super bad though.

It really depends on your water source. If you have really hard water or well water with lots of sediment, you might need to swap them out a bit sooner than the official recommendations. I usually keep an eye on my water pressure; if it starts dropping, that's my cue.
